How to protect yourself

• Before registering, check prices, contract term and cancellation conditions.
• Do not make advance payments for purported winnings – legitimate prizes cost nothing.
• If in doubt, contact the Verbraucherzentrale.
• Do not act under time pressure – legitimate organizations do not pressure you to act immediately.
• If fraud is suspected, contact the affected organization using the officially known phone number or website – never using contact details from the suspicious message.
• In case of fraud, report the incident to the police and inform the Verbraucherzentrale.
