How the scam works

An AI voice introduces itself as 'Jana, your artificial intelligence' and claims to be calling on behalf of Google.
It claims that your Google listing or business profile needs to be 'optimized' or it will expire and be deleted.
The goal is your agreement to a callback by an alleged 'specialist consultant' – or a premature 'Yes'.
The artificial voice is used deliberately to circumvent the legal ban on unsolicited marketing calls.
Private individuals without a business listing also receive these calls.
The fraudsters use changing numbers and multiple variants. In addition to the Google variant ('Jana'), there is a Facebook/Instagram variant: an AI voice named 'Alina' claims to be the 'digital assistant from Facebook and Instagram'. The same applies here: Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and Google do not carry out such automated marketing calls.

How to protect yourself
