"I have paid": This Vinted scam targets sellers

How the scam works
- A supposed interested buyer contacts you about a listing on Vinted
- They ask you to send a video of the clothing item via WhatsApp to check its condition
- Shortly after, they send a screenshot of a supposed purchase offer that is only missing the seller's email address
- They claim the money has already been transferred and urge you to confirm the purchase in the Vinted app
- Since you cannot find a purchase offer in the app, they send you a link to a fake Vinted payment page
- You are asked to enter your details there, supposedly to receive the payment
- An announced push TAN does not arrive; instead, you are sent a code by SMS which you are asked to share
- You are then asked for your credit card information – with the aim of accessing your account

- A video of the item is demanded, supposedly to check its condition
- You receive an unsolicited screenshot of a supposed purchase offer that is supposedly only missing your email address
- It is claimed that the money has already been transferred, even though you do not see a purchase offer in your Vinted app
- You receive a link to a 'Vinted payment page' outside the official app
- You are asked to enter TAN codes, SMS codes, or credit card details
- The announced push TAN never arrives; instead, an SMS code is requested
- Switch to an external 'payment link'
How to protect yourself
- Always stay within the platform's chat function and do not switch to WhatsApp or other channels
- Do not share your phone number and email address with strangers – neither is needed for selling on Vinted
- Never share mobile TANs, SMS codes, or credit card details with other people
- Do not approve any payments in your banking app that you did not initiate yourself
- Check web addresses carefully before entering payment information
- If you suspect fraud, inform your bank immediately, report the incident to the platform, and file a police report
